While the Jacob Eason era has yet to officially begin in Athens, if you follow the money, the decision has already been made.

That’s according to oddsmakers BookMaker.eu, who have moved Eason to the betting favorite to start the season under center for Georgia.

Senior quarterback Greyson Lambert opened as a marginal favorite to start the season as Georgia’s starter when camp opened last week, listed at -105 according to BookMaker.edu. Following the conclusion of the first week of fall camp in Athens, Eason jumped ahead of Lambert and is now listed as a sizable favorite at -155 to start. The incumbent Lambert has lost considerable odds and is now listed at +140 to take the opening snaps from under center Week 1.

With the smart money now on Eason to begin his career as the Bulldogs starter, barring an injury or any disastrous performances in any of Georgia’s upcoming scrimmages, the smart play is on Eason being the Bulldogs’ starter against North Carolina Sept. 3 in the Georgia Dome.
